E S T E E M D R E S S . B O D I C E

Need some help with our Esteem Dress bodice?

Let's see if we can make it easier to understand with a little visual, shall we?

What you'll need:
The Esteem Dress Pattern and Tutorial
The front bodice and side panels
Pins
Scissors
A cup of tea perhaps
and a sewing machine

So.. Let's start from the top!   Page 6

Ensure all pattern markings and indications have been transferred to the pattern pieces.  When joining pattern pieces, there is a 1 cm (3/8") seam allowance throughout the tutorial unless otherwise indicated.

Join the FRONT BODICE to the SIDE PANELS along the shoulder slopes, RSF.  Press the seam open.  Repeat with the remaining set.

Join the BODICE pair together as shown below, RSF.

Turn the BODICE right side out and press.

Cross the right shoulder strap across the back to match the curved edges on the left side to the BODICE, RSF.  Ensure there are no twists in the strap while matching the curved edge from the main bodice through to the lining bodice.

Join the STRAP to the BODICE  along the curved edge by seperating the main bodice from the lining and bringing it to match the main strap along the curved edge.  Use that main-to-lining seam as a matching reference point.  Time the seam allowance to 1/2 cm (1/4").  For best results, trim with pinking shears.

Tricky, right?   Check out this video to see the process in action.
